About this condition

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is a group of inherited disorders that affect the adrenal glands, which produce hormones like cortisol and aldosterone. In CAH, the body can’t make these hormones properly, leading to hormone imbalances. Symptoms can include dehydration, low blood pressure, and unusual development of sex characteristics. Treatment usually involves daily hormone replacement therapy to help the body maintain a healthy balance and support normal growth and development.
