About this condition
Microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) is a rare autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in small blood vessels throughout the body. This inflammation can damage organs such as the kidneys, lungs, and nerves. Common symptoms include fatigue, fever, weight loss, and in some cases, breathing difficulties or blood in the urine. MPA can progress quickly, but early diagnosis and treatment with medications that reduce immune system activity, like corticosteroids and immunosuppressants, can help manage the disease and prevent serious complications.
