About this condition

Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is a rare autoimmune disease where the immune system slowly damages the bile ducts in the liver. This causes bile to build up, leading to liver inflammation, scarring, and potentially liver failure. Common symptoms include fatigue, itchy skin, and yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice). While there’s no cure, medications can slow disease progression, and lifestyle changes help manage symptoms.
